  • This time last year Tuwede Adam (36) was sitting in her home dejected and sad having suffered from fistula for almost 20 years. In 1996, while giving birth at home during an agonising 4 day labour at the age of 16, Adam suffered this birth injury that left her incontinent for 19 years but now thanks to UNFPA's Obstetric Fistula repair camps programme, Tuwede is a new woman and gained her life back. As we commemorate International Day to End Obstetric Fistula, we take a look at Tuwede's inspiring story of survival.
