  • Despite a number of International treaties ratified and National policies existing to address Gender Based Violence (GBV) the Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey for 2015 confirms that violence against women and girls remain a huge problem. At least 1 in every 3 women (age range 15 – 49) have experienced physical violence (35%) & about 1 in every 5 women (17%) have experienced sexual violence. In the majority of cases, perpetrators are the intimate partners. UNFPA representative Dr Esther Muia speaks about some of the efforts underway to address the problem of GBV.
